D. is excellent at not just anticipating our organization’s needs, but thinking beyond our immediate goals and coming up with really exciting ideas and solutions!

 Interactive Social Media Campaigns

I manage posting across all of our social media platforms, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. In an effort to connect more with the community, I have launched several interactive Twitter initiatives. These initiatives are focused around how we can recognize, elevate, and welcome in voices from communities that are traditionally underrepresented in established literary spaces. One successful example is #SubmissionSunday on our Twitter on the first Sunday of every month. For #SubmissionSunday, we encourage followers to respond with publications with open calls for submission with a specific focus on publications who work to publish underrepresented voices. We see high levels of engagement from these tweets through likes, retweets, and follows.

Press Outreach

I update and maintain a press list with over 500 media contacts across publications, publishing houses, agencies, and universities. I write and distribute all press releases for major VIDA announcements.

I also field and manage all media requests in conjunction with VIDA’s Board of Directors.

Social Media Handbook

Created first ever social media handbook for VIDA’s social team. The handbook includes brand guidelines, posting DOs and DON’Ts, posting schedules, and a clear concrete strategy to make sure that there is a social media mission and voice across all platforms. This mission and voice align with VIDA’s overall mission and have a specific focus on how social media can be a tool to connect writers who may not have the same levels of access to institutional support in the literary community.
